Shoutbox

mikemodeler: Need to have Tom Elifritt come up with the master. Feb 20, 2015 22:24:16 GMT -5
Chuck Most: It does strike me as weird, though- the Scout II made it to kit form, but the Bronco never did. Feb 20, 2015 22:25:07 GMT -5
casey: Yeah, he does nice work, and have Jeff B cast it Feb 20, 2015 22:25:25 GMT -5
casey: Yes, that is odd. Maybe there was some connection between Kidde/Ertl and International Harvester back then? Feb 20, 2015 22:26:13 GMT -5
Chuck Most: Ertl did put out a lot of IH subjects Feb 20, 2015 22:26:59 GMT -5
mikemodeler: Probably because Ertl was heavy into International kits Chuck. I can't understand it either! Feb 20, 2015 22:26:59 GMT -5
casey: Maybe it was part of their agreement if they did kits of IH's big trucks Feb 20, 2015 22:28:53 GMT -5
casey: Did the early Bronco share parts with similar era pickups? Suspension, seats, etc.? Feb 20, 2015 22:29:49 GMT -5
Chuck Most: They kind of skated past the "quality" part on the Scout kit though. Feb 20, 2015 22:30:06 GMT -5
Chuck Most: Axles and powertrains interchanged. Feb 20, 2015 22:30:34 GMT -5
mikemodeler: Very little as I remember Casey. Similar designs but smaller/lighter duty, unlike the Blazer Feb 20, 2015 22:31:12 GMT -5
Chuck Most: Originally, the Bronco was to be a cut-down F-100. Ford determined that to be too "Un Jeep-like" and designed the U-100. Lo and behold, in '69 GM brought out the K5... which was a cut-down half ton pickup. Dodge went the same route for the '72 Ramcharger. Feb 20, 2015 22:31:31 GMT -5
Chuck Most: Then, of course, Ford went that route for the second-gen '78 Bronc Feb 20, 2015 22:31:49 GMT -5
casey: Well, if I could see anyone doing one, it would be Moebius. Feb 20, 2015 22:32:35 GMT -5
mikemodeler: given their penchant for the unique, I would tend to agree. Let's hope they do come up with one! Feb 20, 2015 22:34:30 GMT -5
casey: they seem to be rather busy at the moment :D Feb 20, 2015 22:35:57 GMT -5 *
casey: Agreed on the Scout quality, Chuck. That's what always keep me from buying one-- the chassis and interior tub molded as one. Feb 20, 2015 22:45:55 GMT -5
casey: alright guys, I'm heading out. Good chatting with you both. Feb 20, 2015 22:52:39 GMT -5
mikemodeler: good night gents, the cold medicine has kicked in! Feb 20, 2015 22:54:06 GMT -5
Chuck Most: *taps microphone* Feb 26, 2015 20:45:20 GMT -5
