This is one model that I'm glad to finally have finished (for now anyway). I don't know if it was me or the kit (claiming it was both),but I had a heck of a time getting this thing built. I painted it three times! First paintjob, I didn't like the color, messed up the second one, then finally got a decent one laid down. Thank God for Tamiya laquers! The bed on mine was messed up as the bottom area in front of the fenderwells was a good 3-4 scale inches too narrow and didn't even come close to matching the cab. The passenger side had all kinds of humps in it where the lines for the toolbox were. On the cab,I had to fill in the cab corners and add the drip rail molding because it was so faint. After I had it painted,I discovered that I had done it wrong. I never have liked the wheels and tires that came in this kit,so I swapped them for some Ground Hawgs and Outlaw wheels until I can find something better. The bucket seats looked like crap,so I scaled down a bench seat from an old Monogram Chevy. I didn't like the push bar or the brush guard provided,so I scratchbuilt a couple of bumper guards to cover up the holes in the front bumper. I haven't made up my mind about the roll bar yet. I kinda like the clean simple look that it has right now. Here's the photos and thanx for looking. I opened up the grille and added some square lenses over the chrome headlights. I think it made a huge difference in how it looks. Here's an underhood shot (no wiring as I had planned on this being a box stock build) and you can see the bench seat and gear shift I added.

AWESOME job Roger! Looks like you got rid of all of the shortcomings of that kit and did it right! Hopefully we'll have properly molded 1/24 Ground Hawgs (in rubber ) sometime soon, they are such cool tires, especially since the Denman plant near me just closed up for good not long ago Coker tire bought the rights/remains, but will they ever make 1:1 Hawgs again? Hope so...

Yes, great job! It is interesting that the Ground Hawgs look perfect on it. They can look toy-like on many models, not here. What kit did the "Outlaw" wheels come from? And I will have to keep that headlight fix in my bag of tricks. Worked very well. J

Thanx guys,I appreciate comments! looks awsome! i tried to open up the grill in mine but it just got too thin and messed up a small area. those gound hawgs look great on there. too bad they didnt mold left and right side hawgs. Yeah, this grille is almost too thin to open up. I had to take a lot of pains to get mine opened up and I still knocked out three of the vertical bars. It was a major pain to repair because they were so small. If yours is messed up,I would go ahead and cut the grilles out and glue some thin rods on the backside and give it a tube grille look unless you're wanting to keep it stock. I was planning on doing that to mine if I wasn't able to get it repaired. The wheels on this are from the kinda rare F150 High Roller. I got them in a trade and the chrome was shot,so I painted them with Model Masters Chrome in the bottle. The wheels and tires are temporary until I can score some Aoshima Super Swampers and a set of their wheels. These tires are actually too big for the lift this truck has,but they are way better than what came with it,but I don't like the backwards tread on the passenger side. I'll definitely buy a few sets of corrected Groud Hawgs when they come out. I now know why I don't like the kit wheels. I measured them yesterday just to see what they scaled out to and they are 19" behind the lip and a whopping 21" on the lip. It's no wonder they look so out of scale!

rayes, what did you do for a tailgate handle as one is not molded in? I just made one out of styrene, foiled it and glued it to the lip on the tail gate. I need to take my cover back off and shoot it with some dull coat to knock the shine down some. I also need to make some exhaust tips and an antannae.

Man that is one sharp GMC, very nice work! The Ground Hawgs look killer on it, wish I would have thought of that when building mine.
