hi all. this is what i will be starting with for my first build on this forum. its a 1975 1/25 blazer snap kit i found on ebay. so far all ive done is cut out the hood to use a cowl hood i had left over. i ordered a set of Boggers from trevors toybox. i really cant do too much until i get some axles. im watching a '84 gmc kit on ebay and hoping it doesnt get too high.

hi john. the lug nuts are hidden on the trevors wheels, so i dont know if they need to be 1/2 or 3/4 ton axles. im really hoping to get this gmc kit because i need so much stuff to make the LOL "detailed" snap kit work. all the exhaust and drivetrain are molded into the frame. theres no firewall. no motor. no trans. no t-case. the dash board looks awful. i really need to just use everything from the '84 gmc kit. its at $20.00 right now with a day to go. i lost one last week in the last 40 seconds. matt.

well, good news. after much searching and a major lack of bidding success on ebay, a member of this forum, trailbound, came to my aid and sold me the gmc kit i'd been looking for for the exact price i was hoping to spend. thanks mike.
on a side note, what do you all think of using the gmc front clip on the blazer instead of the factory doghouse?

That's great Matt! Kudos to Mike (trailbound) for stepping up like that. I hope we see lots of that here, helping each other out! GMC frontend would be cool...always liked the full-size Jimmys!

Matt your Blazer project sounds like it will be a nice build as for the front clip swap go for it i think a GMC Jimmy would be a cool and different build Willie

the Blazer is looking cool! a friend of mine used to have a pretty big Blazer, not sure the details about it but i do remember it being quite up there. anyway driving around at night was always a bit difficult in that truck as you couldn't see well with the headlights up so high. we were cruising around with some girls in the back who were just sitting on a blanket on the rear floor since there was no seat. we had decided to go back to a secluded spot for a little late night fun and turned off on a road under the power lines. we didn't get far before the trucks front dropped into a huge hole and all of us went into the dash and windshield. we just laughed it off and the headlights were now illuminating the far side of a ditch and some brush. with the truck in 4 wheel low we simply backed out and decided to go elsewhere.

i got a little progress done. ive been waiting for the 84 gmc kit to arrive(thanks trailbound) and i picked up a usa-1 monster truck. i will be using the suspension and axles from the monster truck. the front springs are too long. they wont allow me to center the axle in the wheel well. any suggestions? i cut off the front clip of the blazer and the gmc. the body lines line up perfect. the pictures are just a mock up and not finished. a few questions. 1-should i leave the sunroof or fill it? 2-should i graft the cowl scoop to the 84 hood? if i do, should i lower it down to maybe a three inch scoop? 3-what to do about the front springs? the monster truck springs are sort of offset. there is more spring on one side of the center than the other. even if i put the shorter side to the front, i still cant center the axle in the wheelwell. by the way, i will be lowering the springs from there monster truck height.

i know what you are talking about with the monster truck springs as i believe they are pretty much the same ones that are in the Bigfoot kit. on the USA-1 kit they stick out some too but the bumper helps to make it less noticeable. if you look at my F350 build you may get some ideas?
i really like the tall cowl hood you have, but i do wonder how much it could restrict vision on a tall 1:1 truck. i've had two 4" cowl hoods on different 1:1 Mustangs i've had and they do make some problems with seeing across the passenger side fender/corner. i still like them enough to live with it though.

i think i'll make some frame extentions for the front spring mounts and use the big bumper off the usa-1 kit even though its a bit dated.

Hey Doc here's my thoughts if they matter: 1) Leave the sunroof 2)dont mess with the hood i would leave it 3)The springs have you considered making your own from strip styrene Richard (Modeljeeper) has a good tutoral on making them i've used it to make a few myself its alot easier than you might think Just my thoughts Willie

hey willie, thanks for the thoughts. i had intended on making my own springs. i just thought these might save me some time and effort. if i cant get them to work or they dont look right, i will have to do that. i was thinking of using the 84 gmc springs too, but they wont be near high enough.
