Hey guys, I am still alive. It's been some time since I've last dropped by. Anyways, I finished this one up last month. It's the old and lackluster AMT kit. Not being happy with what the kit has to offer, I bashed it with two other AMT kits, the 69 442 and the 70 Monte Carlo (lowrider). I scrapped the Chevelle chassis and used the 442's, along with it's cowl support and Goodyear tires. The Monte supplied the firewall, transmission crossmember, radiator and support, ac plumbing, and the 454. The Monte's 454 came with an auto trans, but I wanted a 4 speed, so I cut off the slushbox and used the manual trans from the Chevelle's engine. Surprisingly, with such a mishmash of parts, it all came together rather well with only relatively small trimming and filing needed. The body was sprayed in Testor's Arctic Blue Metallic and vinyl roof was done with Rustoleum fine texture spray and Krylon semi gloss white.

That is a verrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice rendition of a classic muscle car! Nice job, great details and well executed! I dig that blue/white combo, nice to see something other than a red Chevelle and a black vinyl top!

Hey, thanks Mike. I vowed not to paint it red as it seems as if that is the only color you ever see them in. Hey Jeff, I just realized I posted this in the WIP section. Talk about a brain fart, think I've been away too long. Could you move it down to the completed- other builds section? Thanks

Thanks Jeff. All is well, just took somewhat of a break from sitting in front of the computer for awhile. Chevelle's do look gewd in red, but man, they are like bellybutons. You know, when figuring out a color for this build, the factory Shadow Gray was at the top of my list. Model Car World carries it, but my funds at the time were limited to need rather than want, so I went with a color I already had on hand.

Super Sharp Chevelle Tony!! This just proves what can be done with an old AMT kit in a pair of talented hands! The vinyl top looks especially nice. How did you do it? I've always thought the body from the AMT kit looks a lot better than the Monogram kit.

Thanks again guys!
Rayes, for the top I used .010 x .020 evergreen strips for the moldings. After primer, I sprayed on some Rustoleum Fine Textured paint, followed by a couple of coats of primer to even out the texture of the Rustoleum. Finally, some Krylon semi gloss white was applied.
