I found an AMT/Matchbox Toyota 4x4 pickup "Snap Fit" kit at a model show last weekend. A somewhat rare kit. It was molded in tan (even the wheels). Back when I was 19, I owned one of the first Toyota 4x4's, a numbered, limited edition version that I wish I would have never sold! I built this model to duplicate that truck. I painted it Tamiya Italian Red and made the side and hood graphics using some scrap 3M vinyl graphics material. Not the best job in the world, but it takes a lot of work to turn one of these snap kits into something presentable. Here are a couple of (small) pics.

Neat little truck! I owned a 1:1 2wd 80 Toyota pickup back in the early 80s. I built it into a pre-runner style.

Very cool! If you'd put that in a different setting like a diorama, it'd look like a 1:1! Nice job!

I briefly had the Revell version with the rumble seat in the bed, and it was probably much like the AMT kit- not so good. Typical '70s snap kit. I was going to replicate my '83 Longbed SR5 4x4, but the model was so bad, I didn't bother.
