Kind of slow on this board, so I thought I'd throw a topic out for conversation.
What is your favorite 4x4 kit and why?
I always liked the Monogram '80 Bronco. It's always been a nice kit and now the latest re-pop has added some nice wheels and other parts. The kit does have nice detail and looks right for a stock Bronco. I used to own an '80 FSB so that kind of gives me a soft spot for this kit too.
My second favorite is probably a tie between the AMT '72 Blazer and the Monogram CJ-7.
The Jeep fits together nicely and has nice detail. I really like the hard top and doors, a feature not on any other Jeep kit that I know of.
The Blazer always just looked cool to me with the deep dish steelies and nice hub detail. Those early 70's Blazers just rock.
It's a shame there aren't more current issue 4x4 kits on the market these day.

My new favorite is the Revell 1981 datsun king cab 4x4 . it looks pretty cool right out of the box and the tires are really nice. other honorable mentions the monogram land rover, mpc jeepsters, and although not a 4x4 but still off road vehicle the amt meyer's manx. although I literally like any kit that is 4x4 from the revell snap together jeeps from the early 80's the toyota,datsun/ nissan models from the same era ,the mpc jeeps ,mpc stunt van,amt t-top,the recent amt monster truck kits (tmnt) have some good parts for a trail rig. the revell and amt cadilac escalades, revell h2 and the h1 for that matter just wish the h 1 had better military rims. some of the foreign WWII jeeps are pretty decent .

From a nostalga point, it has to be the MPC 4x4 van from the 70s. Runner ups would be the MPC Dodge 4x4 pickup, Monogram 4x4 Chevy Luv and the MPC CJ-5. I loved building all of these when I was a teen. (I've got the van and Luv on hand to build again. The CJ is easy enough to come by too. Just having a bit of problem with the Dodge due to the outrageous Ebay prices!)

Just having a bit of problem with the Dodge due to the outrageous Ebay prices!) I've been looking for one of the Dodge 4x4 kits too. Either one of the pickups or the Monogram Ramcharger. I wish one of those would get re-popped. I have a trashed Dodge Little Red Wagon pickup kit someone gave me. I'm going to have to use it as the basis for a 4x4 conversion I think.
