Hello boys and girls! First off I have to apologize for being away for so long.. life happens sometimes, as I'm sure you all know! Any way, I've moved back to the Rado, and have done quite a bit of building. This was the 2nd kit I've finished for 2017, the first being a long time project Dodge Lil Red Express.
Any hoo, I got this kit back in '12 or '13 at a model swap meet in Phoenix, and unfortunately it didn't have the decals. I didn't know how I wanted to build it back then so it just sat on the shelf. Fast forward to this year and I opened the door to my closet and the ol Ford jumped out at me and told me how it wanted to built and what colors to use and all that good stuff! Unfortunately after I started inspecting the components I found the chassis, body, and hood and some significant warpage, especially the chassis. I took my trusty heat gun and attempted to straighten it all out, but was some-what successful, but it's no where near perfect.
At any rate, since this is the finished thread, here are some final pics of how the ol 55 turned out:
I wanted to do something slightly different and add some life to the case, also with the chassis warpage I had some 3-wheel motion going.. so I built a wooden base for the Ford to sit on. I like it, adds a lot to the truck on the shelf.
I actually reached out to Revell and with the awesome customer service they have, they sent me a decal sheet! I only needed the instrumentation, but they took care of me as always. I was pleased!
