258cid I6, T176/ D300
my 1981 CJ8 (totaled, rebuilt to runner) My first jeep! I was involved in a bad accident caused by a road rage driver, thought it was terminal but ended up fixing it, bought the 1982 below after the accident.
258cid (bored .30 over) bunch of engine goodies too) t18B from a IH dump truck to a IH scout D300 with 4:1 tera low and currie twin stick. Proto type Warn Full floating axle kit in a IH scout Dana 44 with ARB airlocker 4.27:1 R&P Wide ratio Jeep Dana 30 front axle trashlok limit slip and Warn internal lock hubs and axle shafts. Ramsey Re12000 winch front is spring shackle reversal, 3" black diamond springs, rear is BDS 4" springs 1" confer shackles, slick rock spring hangers. and a 3" body lift (not recommended) full hard top, full rollcage, other "improvements"
My 1982 CJ8 , When the 1981 was totaled CV4W found this one for me, It used to site 17" over stock on a home made "lift" I though between the two I could make one good jeep, little did I know. It has been wheeled, guided camp jeep, caught on fire, had the rear axles come a part at 40mph (that was fun) blown BOTH axles out at the same time on a steep hill climb (that was NOT fun) but it runs 95% of the time. It has gotten a little better and a little stronger every time and I sure have learned a lot between this jeep and the rest shown below.
My 1946 CJ2a offered to me for the princely sum of $500 (The $500 flatty, $2500 in and I still can't plow my driveway, but it does run most of the time) how can something so durned simple be so aggravatingly complex?
My LJ at the PA jeep show (I swore I would never own a newfangled jeep, unless they made a long wheelbase, they did, Then I said the D35c is crap some of them have cruddy french transmission, then they made a Rubicon drive train .........CRAP! Ran a camp jeep 2005 pre run with 95mph on it, and smashed the tailpipe (camp jeep was 90 miles away).
Dad's 1974 CJ6 with aluminum CJ8 tub, This was bought new and is still 99% stock. The jeep I grew up with.
Dad's 1967 MW300 dodge powerwagon, I learned to drive on this, un-synchronized 4 speed and a tired flat head amd all. This former dept of forestry, Forest fire truck used to have a pump and water tank in the back. It now has a Chevy 307cid V8 and th 350 automatic swapped in (long story)
