Hey Kynan. Sounds complicated, to say the least! But your tires look dead-on. The whole frame/truck is killer. Nice work my friend.

Hi nocky I live at the home town of the cowgirls sorry the COWBOYS the wooden spoon specialist!! The only time I go to a game is to see the Dragons win, So how are the Sheep LOL Sorry I just had to slip the last one in I'm from Tasmania originality so now you to can take the piss out of me... As far as the brass I use 5 Thou brass shim sheets but comes may thickness. It's used in the mechanical and engineering places as a spacer shim to adjust fine tolerances in machinery parts. I don't know if you still have J. Blackwood & Son / A.E.Bakers Industrial Supply's in New Zeeland but they sell it, But any Industrial supply's should have it. Or you could go a hobby shop that sell K & S metal they do 5 thou brass sheet but in that scale I would use 10 or 15 Thou brass sheet as it's more in scale and to over come the weight of the kit. but the K&S will cost you more. Then you just have to cut it to the width that you need. Hope this helps if you need some I can get you some here or need be if you give Me the sizes that you need make you some up P.S Have you had a look at the Aus model car club site amcc.forum-motion.com/forum.htm we have a few members from over NZ as well as the US and Europe. It's a good site and a good lot of people with the normal Aussie/ NZ since of humour. Are you North or South Island I have spent a fare bit of time on the South Island over the years.

Big Ed it's not that hard I sometimes write technical and safety manuals as part of my work for a large company and they like it to sound more compacted than it is so you cant understand it with out an Uni degree. And some times the B.S flows into the stuff I write outside work.

Hi kynan
I'm from Christchurch, not sure if you ahve spent much time down here. As for the sheep, everyone is mad on dairy cows at the moment! Every second vehicle on country roads here is a milk truck!
Thanks for the info on the brass shim, I'll have a look for some next week. What do you use to cut it with? I have some tin snips would that do?
As for the Aussie Model Club...yep I joined up to that one too! From a link in this website I think? Great to find two new model forums!
Do your models all have working suspension? Or do you "shape it" so that it looks like it is working? I'm really into 1:18th diecast and have converted a number of trucks to have functional suspension, either as a lifted truck or a standard truck.
cheers
Peter

Hi Peter I have been to Christchurch but spent most of my time over their hunting and trout fishing and bush walking but the last time I was there was in 93 hope to get over there again soon the strife sorry the wife has family in Christchurch we hope to catch up with. As for the shim it's thin enough that a decent pair of scissors will cut them so the tin snips will work but I use an old paper guillotine that I scored from work to cut mine. All of the model that I make the suspension for are working It is a by-product of the brass if you have the right amount of spring leafs in the pack for the weight of the model they behave like the real springs and wont sag over time I have got models 12 years old that still sit at the right hight and work and if you prop up one wheel the rest sit on the ground. Cheers
