I ask y'all to think, for a moment, about flareside Ford pickups. It may, or may not, be common knowledge that Ford used the same box (and fenders) from 1953 up to 1980, then when new fenders up to 1986 or so. 1980-1986 flaresides are fairly common. In 1992 the flareside box was completely redesigned; it was basically a 6' dually bed narrowed to fit a SRW chassis. Think, for a minute, about the 87-91 body style. Has anyone seen a flareside bed on one? I originally set out to build an 87-91 regular cab flareside. I intended to use the Monogram F-350 box and shorten and narrow it to make a 92-96 style flareside bed. But, then I got to digging. Turns out for 1987 only, Ford offered a flareside bed that was the same box as the 1980-86 model, only with the correct 87-96 wheel arches. For this project, I started with the Monogram F-250/F-350 cab, cut it behind the doors, then grafted on the door-rearward section of the Monogram 1980 F-150 kit. I then cut out the wheel arches from the F-350 bed and grafted them to the 1980 F-150 flaresides. This is the result so far, sitting on the 1980 F-150 chassis... I obviously have a ways to go yet, but after all, this is a WIP thread...!

The '87 Flaresides are a truck you rarely see. I've only seen a couple in my lifetime. First one I saw was brand new and they were driving it in a parade. The other one was new on a dealer's lot. Any progress on this?
