Been a while since i did much building, was recently asked what kind of rock buggy kits were available and stumbled across the Ibex, i liked it so much i decided to build a 1/24 scale model, with the usual working suspension, still may do steering, for now i am pretty happy with how it has turned out so far.

Very cool! Been wanting to scratch a buggy for a while now. What powerplant are you going to put in it?

The motor is an LS something out of an SSR kit that got repurposed. It just barely fit, I didn't pre-plan the engine fitment, i was so focused on the chassis i spaced it, quite happy it did fit tho.

That's awesome tube work on your buggy. How long did that take you and how did you bend the tube? I definitely look forward to see this build, as I'd love to build a crawler like that some day. Keep up the amazing work

To bend the tubing, i use the tapered handle end of my second favorite exacto knife, or the shank of a drill bit depending on how tight the radius, using my thumb as a vise i do a series of small bends till i get the angle i am wanting. Word of warning, bend too tight and the tube will split. The steel core plastic covered rods are used for tighter bends or connecting posts for the larger tubes. The chassis took 2 or so evenings of work (4-5 hours each), the coilovers and suspension about the same.

Sweet, thanks. I'll have to try it that way. I've used candle heat in the past, but its impossible to get consistent bends, never thought of just bending them by hand.....lol. Look forward to seeing more of this build
