Hi everybody!!
I will made this thread to inform you about a situation.. you do what you want after read it... but don't tell you didn't know.
this happen to my best friend 2 years ago. He's a modeler/caster like me and others. he put a lot of time and $$ developing a product for the macross world. ( macross is an japanese animation ) during all the mastering he put on a forum a WIP thread on how he do it. everybody reply WOW, fantastic. etc... you know what I mean??
when he release his product... max 2 weeks someone else put on the market the SAME thing as he do for 1/2 of the price. after buying one of them WE check if it was an original scratch... if it was nothing to do he made it.. but it was not a scratch. A pure copy of his own. He contact his lawer and strat the procedure againts him. in court the guy who make the counterfeith bring to the judge as a proof of he made it EVERY picture found in the forum. the thing is... this guy got contact with some administrator of the site and after he took the picture his thread was remove... so no proof on the web. and he was in court.
the judgement goes to the bad guy. my friend appeal of the decision but at this moment he still wait to go in court 2 years after he release HIS product... but during this 2 years he can't sold his kit... becuase by the judgement it's not his kit.
so be carefull when you put a WIP of something somewhere...
you never know who's the boss..
hope this will help someone
yours

Is this directed at me Sebastien? ;D Just too trusting I guess. The scale modeling world doesn't seem cut-throat to me, but ya never know. Some of the most genuine people I've met are modelers. When I built my Scrambler master, I did it step by step on the CJ-8 site, mostly for their input, help in 1:1 measurements, and to keep them in the loop as to it's progress. Made quite a few friends there over the last 15 months. Since mine was taking so long to get produced, I went as far as posting RMR's info if any of them wanted to check out his Scrambler...his is only $35, I won't be able to sell mine that cheap They said, no thanks, we want yours, no matter the cost! That really makes me feel good, ya know? I do see your point though, big brother's always watching

That is too bad. I know it is very late but there are websites that store past websites' conten. Wayback Machine is one: www.archive.org/And the thief might have "won that battle." But after this kit runs its course I doubt he has the skill or creativity to come up with another next project and will resort to stealing again... so he will "lose the war" in the end. Besides, you have the First Amendment on your side... tell everyone what he has done. Is there a "Freedom of Speech" in Canada? This is a small hobby and bad ratings could kill his business. John

That is too bad. I know it is very late but there are websites that store past websites' conten. Wayback Machine is one: www.archive.org/I know this site but they don't archive forum site you are right and if you go on my site you will se I did it for a seller on ebay. but I now he still selling the stuff in his hobbyshop. so I lost +- 20000$ / year with this guy. he's located in asia so cost a lot of $$ in fees. more than what I will lost in the next 10 years with the item he made from me but that's the life. I prefer to play safe. if I have to post some picture of a master I will do ALL to protect the information. take care yours
