Okay, so I'm waiting for my SSII transkit to show up from Time Machine resins, so I figured I'd get a quickie buildup together to kill the time. So far, here's what we've got... I made up some lift shackles, and pirated the 6-lug wheels (yeah... the IH shared the big 5 bolt pattern with Jeep and Ford, but I can live with six lugs on my Scout!) and TSL tires from an Aoshima '95 Toyota. I made up adapters with 5/32" tubing and styrene to join them to the axles. Next up? Well, I've already begun cutting the fenders, and I know I'll need a few other doodads for this 'dual purpose' street/ weekend wheeler. I guess we'll just have to see how she comes out! ;D

Hey Chuck. Good work so far. Checked out the trans-kit from TMR and it looks awesome. And I've already got plans for the spare body shell and interior tub/chassis I won't need from the RC2 reissue after I use the trans kit!

Very minor progress... I've cut the fenderwells to clear the Super Swamper TSLs. As far as any other progress, I haven't been doing much with it lately, but I'm planning a few other mods, such as a TBI fuel injection setup for the 345, pirated from a Chevy C1500. I'm also thinking of tube bumpers front and rear, and maybe cutting off the top, or at least adding some slider side windows and cutting out the door glass.

Jeez, at this rate, the SSII kit will be here (and finished!) before this thing! "Progress" since last report... I've added the missing fender cut lines to the body, and cut out the spider in the hood. I've also hosed the body off in Testors Inca Gold- I'm thinking of doing the rockers in a red fadeaway, and adding some friggin' Ted Nugent Tiger stripes to the body. The paint will intentionally be less than perfect. I'm also kicking around the idea of adding LED 'trailer' taillamps to it, and installing a 445 Olds V8. I have decided on backdating it to a '73 Model, so keep checking in for that! I'll need to make my own grille, and I've still got to do something with the bumpers.

Great lookin' Scout Chuck! I love the cut fenders. Like you, I am also doing some brainstorming about the bumpers.

She's powered now! Olds 455 (from a Revell '72 442), with a Preston's distributor and EFI throttle body from a '90 Chevy C1500. Of course, I sprayed the block and heads in Harvester Red! I also made up a '73 grille. Not my best scratchbuilding attempt, but it gets the point across. I also added an Olds Rocket badge to the grille, to point to what's going on under the hood. Oh, and here's the "Ted Nugent Dazzle Paint".... After the Inca Gold had dried, I fogged some red onto the rockers, and then basically just stuck triangular strips of masking tape to the body. I also scratchbuilt a hood from flat stock and a '69 Nova cowl scoop, because I lost the friggin' kit hood somewhere and didn't feel like dipping into my spares this time! I also cut out the side glass, and left the door windows open. But, I added the optional 'sliding' glass to the rear windows- Next up, detailing the interior, and I've still got to do something with the bumpers and exhaust. ;D

Thanks guys! For a project that stalled a little bit, I'm making quite a bit of progress now! I kept the interior pretty much stock, but added a few cases of oil to the back to make it look like it just got back from the auto parts store after a 'supply run'. And the 455 Olds is now 'in running condition', though it would be a bit loud without any mufflers in place! I added a dual fan radiator assembly, as well as the air cleaner and brake cylinder, and booster- more underhood detail will come later.
