I am planning on building a restored CJ3B trail Jeep from the Hogan's Heroes Willys. The CJ3B is the Jeep with the often referred to as ugly higher grill, hood, and headlights. On the sides of the higher hood and the front of the grill are the factory metal stampings "WILLYS". A pretty basic font and all caps. Any ideas on how to replicate this in 1/25th? I had the following thoughts... 1. Photoetched letters (if I can find any that would fit the bill...maybe have them made, is that possible?) 2. Dry transfer letters prior to paint (not sure if there will be enough thickness) 3. Making the letters out of very tiny little pieces of styrene (really don't want to go down that avenue...especially 3 times) Thoughts?

Mike, here's a little experiment I did...metal stamping dies, with the letters measuring .250" H x .1875" W. Used on .010" styrene sheet. Tried .020", wasn't crisp enough. Biggest problem would be the reversed "L" and "S"...don't know if mirror image dies are made? Maybe craft stores would have tiny vinyl letters that could be used, primer built up on them could get you the look you're after.

Another modeler sent me this site: railwaymodels.tripod.com/I will need to check into the size, but the font on the far left would work. A little work on the W and the S and I should be able to make it look 95% accurate.

I often keep the data tag of the plastic sprue's that the kit bits come attached to these tags have the kit info on them in nice raised letters and numbers if you save them up over a while you get a heap of different letters. Then if you carefully cut them of with a sharp blade you get a nice letter in a basic shape then glue them on to the model
