i had to figure this one out and thought i would pass on my idea. i wanted to change from the soft rubber boggers on my jimmy to the hard rubber iroks. the boggers come off with no problem but the iroks are to stiff. so i made a press with a bench vise, a 1 1/4" socket and a deep 9/16" socket. using the larger socket on the front face of the tire and the smaller socket on the back of the wheel, simply press it all together with the bench vise slowly and the wheel will pop out into the larger socket undamaged. then, to put the stiff irok on the other wheels, i suspended the tires on a coat hanger in front of a space heater to soften them and they popped right on the wheels that were already mounted on the model.

Hey Matt. Great idea. I skinned quite a few fingers pushin' the rims out by hand.

This is a really old thread, but i stumbled over it while looking for how to take the whole wheel off a SoReal diecast without breaking it..
Have you guys tried boiling the tire and wheel? It's an old trick that works well with hard rubber tires.

I've submerged them in very warm water (too hot & the chrome can get damaged) for awhile, came apart pretty easily then.
Alan @ Ma's resin repops these tires in rubber, making life much easier ;D
