Hey all. My very first poll...just curious about this dilemma...who likes, who doesn't.

I don't think you understood the question Ben. The poll is referring to the current trend of lifted trucks with wheels that are way TOO BIG on tires that are WAY too small...like a 24" wheel on a 33" tire. Re: vs.

I'm old school and don't care for it. That GMC makes me want to puke. I've always thought with the "smaller" tires (35" and under) that the wheel size should never be more than half of what the diameter of the tire is. With huge tires like 44's, I guess I'm ok with a somewhat larger wheel, maybe like up to a 18".
Bling and chrome won't get you home!
If that GMC is yours Larry, or someone you know, sorry and don't take offense, it's just my preference.

Hey Tony. I found that truck on the web just to use as a comparison. I'm with you and hope not to offend anyone. But I am NOT a fan of the big wheel thing on lifted 4x4s...never liked it. They look slick on the lowered trucks, but that's it. Gimme a 16" wheel on a 49" Irok! Just thought a poll would be cool to see who likes & doesn't. And I think the wheel size being half the diam. of the tire is the limit. But everyone has an opinion, right?

i like the old school look i think 44s on 15in rims look good. but sometimes the bigger rims look good with the bigger tires like the 54 boggers don't look bad with 20in rims

Agreed...keep the large diameter wheels on 2WD lowered trucks/cars. That GMC just looks wrong ;D

Thought we were gonna have to get some pitchforks and the angry mob! LOL....just kidding! If somebody throws some large rims on their truck, that's fine, just isn't something you'll catch me doing anytime soon.

LOL Tony. And I agree with Josh too. 20's stuffed inside 54's is excellent. But don't stuff 20's inside a 33!!! And Jeff...wrong for sure! But again, this wasn't meant to offend anyone for what they like. I'm sure there are guys here that like that look. This poll was just a time-passer, not to judge anyone. But when you think about, maybe I should be at my workbench rappin' up this !@#$% Dodge instead of polling things...LOL. BTW, it's almost done. Waitin' on some drill bits...you know, the kind THAT BREAK as soon as you apply a little pressure?

On a lifted truck where we assume the purpose of the lift is to go off road, the sidewall helps keep the rims off the rocks, plus aired down, a generous sidewall helps with both traction and flotation. 24" Dubs on a 33" tire don't make sense in those cases, but on a lowered truck with the right stance, big rims can indeed enhance the style as well as the street handling. Practicality aside, my ol'skool eyes just can't appreciate the aesthetics of mondo rims on a lifted truck. Just my opinion though, I remember when 31" tires on a CJ were considered the outer limits of safety and practicality. Times change <shrug>.

Iam not into the black gmc at all, it needs much bigger tires, but thats just me, if everyone like the same thing , it would be boring.

I don't like a wheel over 19" on a newer 4X4 truck. My son in law had an '07 Tacoma crew cab with 19" wheels and 33" or 35" tires and it looked just right in my eyes. He now has a sharp '98 Tacoma xtra cab with 15" M/T beadlocks and 35" tires that is sharp also. The beadlocks kinda make the wheels look a little on the small side. The only thing that he and I don't like is the snorkel intake on it. It kills the look of it,but I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the money.
