Hey all. This is for anyone familiar with casting resin parts. I bought an axle from eBay a few months ago (badly cast though...I was curious...only $2.99). I put it in my parts box with plastic parts. I checked for some parts a couple days ago and found the resin axle laying on top of a plastic axle tube I had made. The plastic axle tube has been melting where the resin part touched it. Should this have happened? I certainly hope not!

ive been casting parts for a couple of months now(probably a few thousand parts or so) with different kinds of resin and never had a problem with melting other plastic parts.are you sure it wasnt something else?if it was an epoxy resin that might melt the plastic.also if it was a bad cast it might not of cured all the way remember resin generates alot of heat to cure hope this helps.

Hey Ben. Heat sounds like a possibility. That's exactly what it looked like. The resin piece had sank it's way into the plastic tube (over a couple months) just like it was hot. Needless to say, I tossed the bad axle. Thanks for reply.
