these ebay people are killing me! ive been trying to get a '84 GMC 4X4 kit for a month now. the reissue, not even the fall guy kit! i either get out bid with seconds to go, or the bidding gets jacked up too soon. right now theres one on there with about three hours to go and its already at $47.00 with shipping! better luck next time i guess.

i never thought there was that much interest in those kits! i at one point must have had 6 of them at least as they were in Walmart a couple years ago for cheap. i stocked up and then traded them off over time as i wasn't real big on them. last one went not too long ago!

Sounds like maybe some phantom bidding there Matt...I don't think the Fall Guy issue ever sold for that much! It's not a great kit by any means, the wheel/tire combo is over scale (19" wagon wheels LOL) other parts are crappy. Maybe we can come up with something else as a parts source. I've got alot of parts from one I won't be using, let me make up a list.

you should have sold them on ebay dave. i havent seen one go for less than $30.00 so far. you know what they say about hind site. i think they have been drove up in price as the fall guy kits have become out of reach. i saw one of those go last week for about $78.00 not including shipping. come on people, were talking about plastic here!

jeff ive got a winning bid so far on one that goes off in a day and a half. if that one doesnt go through, maybe i should start piecing it together with other peoples left over parts.
i would need: t-case, frame, front and rear axles, fire wall, cowl section, driveshafts
i could scratch build: springs, shocks and exhaust
i guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I remember seeing a "I hate Ebay" thread on another site recently and the guy was complaining about paying too much for the exact same kit (though not that high). He later admitted to only wanting it for the tires!!! I didn't have the heart to tell him the tires are available from resin casters. John

i like Ebay too, but it can be frustrating at times when you are chasing that kit you really want or when trying to dig up some cool older ones. i've been after teh Monogram High Roller kits for years, pretty much any of them that i could get. never was the winning bidder on a single one and they do show up there fairly often, at least some of them. just recently i scored the Chevy Luv High Roller in a trade, no bidding involved! one of the hardest ones to find i thought and i was able to get it for the price of another old kit i had in my stash plus shipping. sometimes it's just being in the right place at the right time i guess.
funny thing too about those Fall Guy issue kits. they arent accurate at all for building the TV truck and in probably 90% of those old kits the decals are going to be totally shot. it's pretty much "collectable" only for it's box art in my opinion.

I like ebay myself. I only had one bad deal and it wasn't ebay's fault. It does suck to get outbid especially in the final seconds when you think you have it won. Just remember those kits are like a bus,if you miss one, there will always be another one coming. I've lucked out and bought 3 of the F-150 High Rollers from there. One was a little high, but I got the other two at good price. I don't understand why the GMC trucks get so expensive, there should be plenty of them still around. If you can catch one that ends late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, you might stand a better chance of winning one. If you just want to buy one straight out go to Fred's Model World. If he doesn't have it,you can put it on his want list. When he gets it,he will contact you.
