Since us 4x4 and offroad builders always draw the "short straw" when it comes to kits and parts by the manufacturers, the aftermarket has to pick up the slack. We've gotten some parts which I'm grateful for, but we need MORE!!!We have to show the casters that it's worth their while to reproduce these parts though. We can help by providing them with our scratched masters or old rare parts to make molds of. We can really help by BUYING these parts. I'm starting this thread to get this whole process started. I will do a poll after we have a discussion on what we want/need. Here are a few things I think would be useful to our specific type of builds: 1. A proper WARN 8274 winch 2. Atlas transfer case 3. longbed conversions for: a. 64/65 Revell Chevy b. Newly reissued Revell GMC c. AMT 70s Dodge (reproduction of high $$$ MPC longbed) 4. Proper 2.5 ton Rockwell axles (want to make another set Larry? ) Please discuss everyone, and add wants to your post...

I have a long bed for the Dodge that I could let someone use to make a master with. The only thing that holds me back is knowing who I could trust. I sure don't want to send it to someone and never get it back or have them keep it for a year or longer. I've heard so many horror stories about resin casters that I just don't know who I could send my stuff to with confidence. I think that's the problem everyone has concerning sending valuble parts to a resin caster. They don't know know when or if they will get their parts back.
If someone makes a long bed conversion for a particular truck, I think a lengthened chassis should also be an option. Not everyone knows exactly how to lengthen a chassis correctly. I think making a conversion as easy as possible would help sales.
I would like to see some 4X4 conversions for the older trucks also. Like the '37&'40 Ford, '41 Chevy, '50 Ford and Chevy. I think those would be pretty cool to have. Of course, they would need to be period correct parts.
With the current release of the Phantom Ford Van,I think the parts from the Ford Stunt Van would go over pretty well. The release of the Revell Chevy van could also use the conversion parts from the 4X4. version of it. That's my ideas for now. I'm sure other will come.

Marmon-Herrington conversions for old Fords and Napco conversions for GM would be AWESOME. They'd also be relatively straight-forward resin kits, since they typically went in via the original frame. I'd step up to create masters for these if I were able to get a handful of copies of each in return. I know Jeff has seen it, probably you too, Roger, but I'm well on my way to having masters for a 4x4 conversion for the '67-'72 GM trucks. The thread has gotten long enough now that it's easier to just post the link - www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62937l This would end up being an extensive kit, but I think it'd be worth the effort. Steve Perry has the Ford van 4x4 stuff covered, from what I can see. I can't afford to buy resin these days, but I do intend to grab a (Ph)Vantom kit to hang on to for when I can purchase his Ford parts, while they're available. I've had a good amount of interest in my Jeep Gladiator conversion. The Honcho kit hasn't been reissued in a while, but it's not that hard to find for fair money. For the love of God, can we please get an early Bronco? Every time I see anything with the word "cheese" in it, I kick myself for not getting one of the Cheez-Cast offerings when they were available.

Who do I need to maim for a first-gen Bronco? CJs are well covered in kit form, and so is the Scout II. Why not the Bronco?
Speaking of Scouts, a first-generation (A/B Series) Scout would be nice to have. I'd also love to see someone reproduce the parts from the off-road version of the original Ertl Scout kit.
Ma's Resin does quite a few wheel and tire sets. Even so,There needs to be more available for off-road and four wheel drive wheel and tire selections- if somebody just repopped the wheels and tires from the Danbury Mint Dodge Power Wagon I'd be VERY pleased! Even some non-comically oversized 8-bolt steel wheels would be good sellers.
A few more light-truck diesel engines would be very welcome.
Things like winches, hitches (reciever and pintle type), lights, and bed-mounted toolboxes would be useful as well.

I too would love to have an early Bronco and remember being at show in Wisconsin 10 years ago and passed on getting the Cheez Cast kit as I spent my money on some old kits. I have an old MPC Jeep kit that has the snow plow and half cab that I would like to have someone cast and offer. I would only want a copy and the originals back so if anyone is listening..... I did ask Jeff Ballard about casting the MPC Dodge longbed but he didn't think it would be a good seller( I disagree but whatever). I have a half completed monster truck that could be disassembled for resin casting- chassis and body and I could scrounge up the drivetrain pieces too! I do not have the time to attempt the casting myself so I am at the mercy of someone else. Any 4x4 resin parts, kits and related stuff is of great interest to me so if there is a listing of what is available, I will gladly spend my lunch money. I heard there could be a CJ8 Scrambler available one day!

I am with yaw on wanting more winches and hitches
I would like to see more wheels and tires that fit the so real tires. (I just sent some dually wheels off to get some resin copies of them that fit the so real tires cant wait to get them back)
I would also like to see either a resin copy or to rerease the late 70s early 80s toyotas and also the suzuki samauri
It would also be neat to get a lifted independent suspension cast I was gonna try and scratch build one but I dont even know where to start to make it look right

Yeah, I would love to see a first gen Bronco or Scout. I've even thought about trying to scratchbuild a Bronco. But,without the measurements or the real thing setting in the driveway,it would be almost impossible to get right. I have a project that I'm making a Power Stroke engine for. All I lack having it done is the turbo, manifolds and injector pump.
I've been dabbling in resin casting and one thing I learned quickly is that to get quality results, a pressure pot and a slower setting resin is a must! To me, the mold making process is the easiest part. But, I haven't made any really complicated molds for bodies yet. As I've told Jeff, I'm seriously thinking about taking the plunge and start doing some serious casting. I have several parts and some conversions already laying around. I was just apprehensive about sending them to someone to get cast. The more this discussion goes on the more serious I'm thinking about it. There are tons of things that have to be figured out before the first resin gets cast though. Things like packaging, shipping quotes/costs, prices, web site (would a web site even be necessary?) etc. etc. I think I already have a line on a pressure pot,so that part may be taken care of. I already have a shop and air compessor. I'm going to check into into a good slow setting resin and other supplies today to see if I can get an approximate start up cost.

Good ideas so far fellas I know Dencon resin had plans of making the old, aftermarket 4WD parts that Ford used back in the day (Marmon-Herrington I guess?), but I think he's another caster that went the way of the dinosaur I think a GOOD Dana 60 center section would be useful, as the ones already being reproduced aren't that great. I've got a R-M '69 Charger section all cleaned up & ready for a mold... I have a new set of Revell of Germany Unimog portal axles that I can get ready for reproduction also, would you guys use them in a build? The SoReal wheels should be covered, I gave Alan @ Ma's about 25-30 different wheel centers, cut down to fit modified SoReal beadlock hoops. We'll have lots-O-choices once they're done: Example: Roger, I sure hope this all works out for you...we're here to support you in any way, especially supplying you with masters, and buying your goodies Keep us posted! ;D Chris, you've mastered some top-notch parts too, I'm sure someone will cast 'em. If you do some parts for your masters in pewter, I think small parts like D-rings and maybe Hi-lift jacks would be better in metal than resin? Let's hear more opinions on parts we want! Larry? Willie?

Cool wheel Josh, I look forward to those from Alan as well! Anyone else wanna have a say in what parts they'd like to see in the aftermarket?

I'm not sure if I'm looking for specific parts, or just a one-stop shop to buy them. I'm basically wanting simple 4x4 conversion parts.
Various axles (D44, D60, Ford 9", etc.), but all with seperate axle tubes, diffs & hubs so width and left/right orientation can be easily adjusted.
Assortment of transfer cases with left and right drop.
Off-road lights, winches and other cool 4x4 accessories would be a plus.

#@*! yeah, an early Bronco! Various axles (D44, D60, Ford 9", etc.), but all with seperate axle tubes, diffs & hubs so width and left/right orientation can be easily adjusted. Assortment of transfer cases with left and right drop. I'm in total agreement, those would be great. It would be a real benefit to those of us (including me) who are lacking in the art of scratchbuilding. I can't really think of anything to add that hasn't already been mentioned, but if I come up with something, I'll post it up.

in addition to resin it would be great to have some photo etch stuff as well like bead locks . dirt modeler has some but they are too small for the so real wheels . for resin maybe some snorkel stuff would be good and maybe some kit specific brushguard/bumpers for those that dont want to scratch build everything. one thing though is I think the price has to be right because if it is a little high most guys will just pass on it . what did big jeepz do with his molds? I thought he was gonna be around for a long time so I missed out on his stuff by not ordering when I had the chance.
