Thanks much guys for the kind words and concern about me being missing.
I won't go into detail but life became very difficult late last year and it is finally calming down. I plan to start hitting the work bench again regularly. I have a specific jeep to build (wink, wink Jeff). And a couple other ideas for projects I want to build.
Since coming back here again, there are sooooo many new folks here with some great and inspiring work. I hope to spend a few days getting caught up with everyone.
John

If Stacey David made the Crazy Horse look like Old OLY, he really would have had a outrages Bronco, the Crazy Horse just didn't do nothing for me after it was painted! I think that he went the wrong way! rctrucker

John, There is so much good work out there now, and the state of the art of car modeling is so high, it takes a lot to get me excited. But I have to say, your Big Oly replica is one of the best I've seen in a long time. (And I was in Salt Lake City in April).
Your choice of subject is so strong being one of the few off road racers that most will remember, an evolutionary and revolutionary racer, and driven by the famous Parnelli Jones. I have a soft spot for this truck as it was featured in one of my favorite car movies, the orginal "Gone in Sixty Seconds." I saw Big Oly on display in a Firestone tire store parking in Long Beach in about 1994. Noone paid it any attention, but I knew what it was. It was still dirty with sand on the floor like it hadnt been touched since its last race.
Regarding your model, just outstanding, courageous scratch-building. Few would take that on and for good reason judging by your custom resin body panels and scratch built frame. I'm amazed you pulled it off using styrene rod. That's some accurate work! You got the over-all look right on and you drove deep on the detail too. Love the suspension and fuel system details. And the decals; you make it look so easy and I know it's not.
I can only hope your model gets displayed publicly. It's a best of show contender in my book, at any contest around. How about bringing it up to Sylvania OH for the NNL National in October?
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Steve

X2 on everything you said Steve! I'll be twisting John's arm to join us at the fall NNL, he can drive into Ohio and ride with me!
